A day is called Yobi in Japanese

Note:The name of the days of the week come from the five planets or the five elements of life.

Sunday means  day of the sun

Monday means  day of the moon

Tuesday means day of Fire

Wednesday means  day of Water

Thursday means day of wood

Friday means  day of Gold

Saturday means day of the Earth

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (weekdays)” are called 平日“heijitsu” and the two days of “Saturday and Sunday (weekends)” are called 週末“shyuumatsu in Japanese.
